Fungal Nail

Fungal nail infections cause a discoloured, thick and crumbly nail. It is a harmless nail condition, but it can heavily impact a person’s confidence, especially if they want to wear open toe shoes such as sandals. Over the counter treatments often fail as the treatments often can’t reach the infection which is under the nail plate.

One treatment we offer at 1st Foot Podiatry is burring of the nail to expose the infection so the treatments then work. We also offer a treatment called nail fenestration which creates pathways in the nail plate to allow deeper penetration to the nail bed level which enhances the fungal agents to work.
