What is a Biomechanical Assessment?
If you experience pain in your feet, ankles, knees, hips, or back, it may be linked to the way your feet and legs move when you walk or stand. A biomechanical assessment helps us understand how your body moves, so we can identify any issues with alignment, balance, or movement that might be causing discomfort.
Whats involved?
During a Biomechanical assessment, your Podiatrist will:
- Take a detailed history of your symptoms and lifestyle
- Examine your feet, legs, and posture while standing, and walking.
- Assess your joint movement, muscle strength, and flexibility
- Analyse how your feet and lower limbs move and bear weight
- Discuss possible treatment options, which may include exercises, footwear advice, or custom orthotics
What to expect
We will explain each step to make sure you feel comfortable and understand what we are asking you to do. You will be asked to walk along the corridor or perform small simple movements which allows us to assess the posture and function of your hips, legs and feet.
Once the assessment is complete, we will go through the findings with you and create a treatment plan which will be tailored to your goals.
